Energy Management
Purpose
To establish and use energy efficiency objectives and targets to drive performance improvements to reduce energy costs and improve the overall efficiency of campus utilities.
Statement
We commit to following these energy management guidelines:
- Maximize incentives offered by local utilities and Energy Trust of Oregon, as well as tax credits available from federal, state, and local authorities, and
- Reduce energy consumption inside and outside of standard business operating hours from lighting, HVAC, personal computers and other plug-loads, and
- Provide resources for energy management, including personnel time as well as budget dollars, and
- Work with outside resources to conduct technical and energy management assessments to identify opportunities, establish goals and track progress, and
- Maintain an active energy management team that meets regularly to work to implement this policy, and
- Purchase energy-efficient products and services using lifecycle costing where appropriate and consider incorporating renewable energy into the energy portfolio, and
- Engage students and staff to assist in ways the college can save and reduce energy costs, and
- Ensure that energy-efficiency considerations are included in all aspects of our business planning and operation, consistent with management practices, and
- Share sustainability goals and performance results with staff, students, and tenants on an ongoing basis, and
- Contractors will be expected to bring forth energy-saving ideas and services that are in the best interests of the college.
