We have over 25 years of experience teaching Driver Education in Linn and Benton counties. Courses are approved by the Oregon Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division and utilize their curriculum.

Classes

 

Traditional Driver Education

This course is designed to help you obtain a license and acquire a set of low-risk driving behaviors that will serve for a lifetime of crash-free driving. Includes 30 hours of class participation, six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, six hours of behind-the-wheel observation, and five hours of documented home driving practice.

Prepare for Registration

Classes can fill quickly, and seats are not guaranteed. Check our Registration Guide below to prepared for registration! LBCC faculty & staff: check below for instructions. Verify eligibility with HR or a supervisor.

Adult Driver Education Classes

Learn vehicle operation and safety skills. This is not your typical Driver Eduction course; students do no qualify for the DMV waiver. Includes six hours of classroom instructions and one and a half hours of in-car training (to be scheduled). You must have an Oregon Driver's License or Permit.

We offer income-based fee assistance to students who are under the age of 18 when they are expected to complete the course. There is a form that we ask you to complete in order to determine the student's eligibility. Form must be completed by a parent or guardian. 

If a student is eligible, we reduce the fee of $389 to $314, a savings of $75, due at the time of registration.

Scholarships, financial aid, and other tuition assistance does not apply to Driver Education.

Work up to 16 hours a week during the school year and up to 40 hours a week during summer term. Hours are flexible with competitive pay. Driving time is scheduled by the instructor, and LBCC will provide the instruction vehicle.

Requirements

Candidates must be 23 years of age with a minimum of three years driving experience. Must be computer literate and fluent with standard Google Suite applications. Must be able to work with students of all ages.

Preferences

Preference given to applicants who are bilingual, specifically in Spanish. Preference given to those with training as law enforcement, emergency personal, nurses, mail carriers, delivery drivers, public transit drivers, or K-12 teachers.

Special Instructions

Applicants are responsible for completing a nine-week certification to earn their ODOT Instructor Certification. Applicants are responsible for the cost of training, with potential partial reimbursement after two terms of service.
